Who Will Lead
With a journey from betrayal to godhood, Een leads his people away from the Edém Civilization
11th of Vega, 844
Hear me, people of Edém Civilization, and take heed. Today, we set sail on a journey into the unknown. No longer shall we partake of the false offerings of Queen Ageláda and her cursed kin; we have had our fill of their deceit. Let it be known, the truth must be spoken - that Queen Ageláda slew her own brother, the Bull King Távros. What sort of creature could slay one of their own blood? Only monsters. I will lead a brave few, seekers of truth, out of Edém and into Ephoris, where we will forge a new home. Many families may perish along the way, but my duty is to keep them safe. I lead them out of this hellish existence. May the gods bless us and guide us on this journey, for we will need their strength. I am Een, son of Borr, not born to lead, but perhaps in this journey, I shall become one.

A year has passed since our exodus, and still, we wander without a true home. This land's forests, deserts, and mountains have taken their toll on us all. I had to bury my son and daughter just one sunrich ago, and God, I failed them. No warrior should ever have to suffer the agony of laying their children to rest, and I am not the only one who bears this burden. Many of us have done the same; we share in this pain. But we are united by it, for the cycle of loss is broken and will forever live within us. We must find a place to call home, for our fallen children deserve to be honored properly. I carry on for them, and I swear by God that we will find a place to rest our weary bones. My dear children, I love you, and I pray that you may finally rest in peace.

We finally found a place called home. On the Northside of Ephoris, we spotted an island or perhaps another habitable continent. This time of year, snowfall will approach soon, and since this is an isolated island, we will face harsher conditions. I have ordered everyone to find animals and shed their fur for warmth and build boats to set sail. Before I leave Ephoris behind, I will write my final thoughts about this continent.
Ephoris will be explored, if not by my descendants, then by the folk of Edém. That civilization will not last forever; from the whispers I heard from my people, it seems as though the political gain was not on the mind of Ageláda when she murdered her brother. From what I can conclude, drama ensued within the kin. All four siblings seemed to have something against one another. I know Távros was not a good man, being a tyrant, but I cannot deny he built something that might never be replicated. It all started with finding this power called “Kosmic Energy''. Only the siblings wield this power, none of the locals are even allowed to see its potential. That amount of power, reserved for one family, will not end well. That is in the past now, I look to the future for my people. We will prosper peacefully, and if one day, if our paths do cross… I hope we can find common ground to work together. That is my wish, for my folk and future sons.

Hail and blessings! Our journey to North Toendra has been a godsend. We have started to build our village, Snæfold, and though it may be small now, it will grow to become a stronghold for our descendants. The children have reached the age of training with weapons, and even our women have joined in, for we will need warriors when I leave to explore the rest of North Toendra. We will search for new places for our village to grow, see if the land is more extensive than we thought, and find new animals to hunt. The possibilities are endless, but we must prepare for any attack. My wife, Brana, will be in charge while I am away, and I expect her to lead as fiercely as I do. This may be my final entry, but if it is, know that I love you, Brana. May God watch over us on our journey.

Last year, when I left to find help for my men, I stumbled upon weakness. Dehydration, hunger, and illness took hold of me. I could not remember what happened after that. My face was buried in the snow, and I believed that my time had come. I prayed and tried to surrender my soul, but then I heard a noise. I thought it was my men following me, but instead, I saw a raven. It looked at me and spoke to me in my mind. I thought I was losing my sanity, but it spoke to me in a language that was not of this world. It offered me incredible power in exchange for giving up my vision of the future, and then a knife appeared. I knew what it meant, and in my desperation, my instincts took over, and I plunged the knife into my eyes. I could not scream, and all that came out of me was emptiness. The Raven disappeared, but I could still see the snow falling, and I could see the blood running down my hands. I had the strength to stand up, but only with the help of the spear that appeared in my hands. I now had knowledge about how to become something called “Hfnar”.
The Raven appeared once more and said, "When the time comes, Raven King Een, lead your people well. For the balance must be maintained in Ephoris." Then it landed on top of my staff and fused with it.
I have not told my wife, my men, nor my people about this. The Raven told me to train them to become Hfnar. Since that day, I have not felt the same. I grow more bitter by the minute, and so does everyone around me. I do not like what I am becoming, but I hope to get back on the right path. Please, do not let vengeance consume me.

The training of my warriors has been more than sufficient, and each and every one of them has met my expectations. Our village has now grown into a grand city, and construction of my stronghold, which some have deemed a castle, has commenced. Brana insisted that it be built by the ocean, and I have honored her request. It will be home to many rooms and some of my closest allies, and it will be a sanctuary for my descendants.
Ever since I found Walküre, time has stood still for us. We don't age as mortals do, and becoming Hfnar has given us accelerated healing. I cannot predict what we will look like in a century or even a millennium, but I know we are not bound by the same mortality as the people of Edém.
I still remember the Kosmic Family, who possess the most powerful energy source in all of Ephoris, but they are selfish and refuse to share their power with the commoners. My family and I are different. We share our power with our people, and we are better than the savages running rampant in Ephoris.
Ever since the meteorite landed here, the people of Edém have been oppressed, and it's time to put an end to it. This world was better when we were simple villagers, before we became "civilized". Távros' ascension to the throne was a mistake, and it's time to rectify that. Perhaps a new empire needs to rise, one that starts fresh. Their time will come, whether it's by my hand or that of my future sons. That is a promise.
I have been foolish in my previous entry to talk of peace, for it is not achievable. The Kosmic Family will never cease their oppression as long as I draw breath. When the time comes to bring down their empire, we will do so with all our might. The Hfnar will rise to dominance and Kosmic Energy will finally be eradicated.
My journey has been long, but this entry will be my last. Though I may have failed to become a leader, I have achieved something far greater: Godhood.
